Bantayan Island and Kawasan Falls in Cebu after office hours

Time, Availability and your Appetite to Spend are huge factors and common reasons why our long time dream travel vacation cannot push through and always holding us back to where we’ve started – “Planning”.

Keep in mind that there should always be this guy who’s actively setting the stage, without him, don’t expect for any progress.

We booked a night flight from Manila to Cebu via AirAsia, just enough to finish our Friday office duties. It is our option to rent a car so please take note that I cannot help you with the cost of using public transportation. Renting a car costs Php 21,300.00 (we’re 11 in the group plus the driver) inclusive of everything such as Gas and Ro-Ro transfers. Since we’re in a big group, I think we made the right decision. Our first stop right after setting foot to Cebu is AABBQ, where we had our dinner.

First night accommodation is FREE since someone in our group has a relative in the city proper.

The next morning, we leave at 3:30am to catch the 9:30am schedule in Hagnaya Port going to Sta. Fe in Bantayan Island. Cost of Ticket varies between seniors, children, students and a regular commuter, but in our case, this is already included in the Php 21,300.00 I mentioned before. Travel time is 1.5 hours.

You can check full list of schedule here:

From Sta. Fe, it took us around half an hour to reach Bantayan Island Nature Park and Resort. The resort is actually OK but for those going solo or just relying on public transportation, this is not for you. Better to book hotels around Sta. Fe proper.

We spent Php 4,800.00 with Agoda.com for 6 rooms which can accommodate 12 persons.

Finally! This is the start of journey. We’re about to witness the white sand beach of Virgin Island. From Bantayan Resort, we rented a boat for Php 1,500.00, you may contact Kuya Bobby at +63 912 622 2173 for your future plans.

Virgin Island looks so untouchable (as the name convey) and perfect for picture taking and Instagram posts. With its clear blue water and unspoiled white sand beach, you will definitely fall in love with nature. Because of its isolation from the City, overcrowding isn’t a problem and surely a good place to relax.

Going back to Resort from Virgin Island, we’re able to cross other tourist spots in Bantayan such as Ogtong Cave and Kota Beach for Php 100.00 and Php 50.00 entrance fees. Because of the film “Camp Sawi” that features the beauty of this island, it became even more popular to tourists.

Kawasan Falls

Along the way to Kawasan Falls, we’re able to capture and taste at least a portion of what the City can offer. Tabo-an Market is known for their Danggit, a salted sun-dried rabbit-fish and other dried seafood while Carcar City Public Market is known for their ready to eat food such as Cebu Lechon. With these in hand, we had a stopover in Molave Milk Station to have some lunch for that day.

Cebu is popularly known for Lechon, so don’t forget to try their style.

Leaving the Island at 3:15 in the morning and finally reaching Kawasan by 1:30 in the afternoon is no ordinary but merely looking at how water falls from above and how it excites everyone every time it hardly touches their back, the hassle we had along the way washes it all. When travelling out of town, it is seldom for me to experience such a body of water. For almost half an hour of tuning in to the loud voices of tourists, we finally hit our turn. Rent a cottage for Php 300.00, Life vest for Php 50.00 and another Php 300.00 to experience the rafting.

Let’s make every summer unforgettable by giving ourselves a reward. Travelling to places today is just a click away, deals are becoming more and more satisfying to various demand of people who wanted to witness the unseen, those who wanted to explore the forbidden, and for people like me who wanted to share the untold. It’s of great significance to note that we need to save and invest while we’re still young, but it’s also of same importance to note that we only live once.
